This Youtube video link provides a humorous view of residential sprinklers. Residential sprinkler design focuses on life safety and in most cases utilizes the household water supply line. They discharge water in the area of the fire to prevent the un-survivable condition of flashover from occurring. When properly designed and maintained they can also limit fire, smoke, and heat damage in addition to their primary function of saving lives.
