TEWKSBURY MASTER PLAN COMMITTEE

October 24, 2002

The meeting was called to order at 6:38pm.  Members present were Frank Sweet, Steve Sadwick, Nancy Reed, Joe Gill and Susan Duffy.

  1. Review Public Forum Agenda

Discussed the public forum agenda taking place that evening.  Sweet will open up the forum welcoming the participants, and introducing the consultants from C.O.G..  Judi Barrett(C.O.G.) will then take the meeting from there, but the Master Plan committee members will be available for support as needed.

Sadwick reviewed the handout re “Rules for Visioning” and how to state ideas positively using action verbs to allow for a more positive exchange of ideas.

The second public forum is scheduled for November 9, 2002, 1:30pm-3:30pm at the Tewksbury Public Library in the first floor meeting room.  If possible, each committee member is to arrive one hour early to help set up.  Reed and Duffy will again take care of the refreshments.

  1. Approval of Meeting Minutes

The meeting minutes of October 10, 2002 were approved by a motion and accepted unanimously.

  1. Master Plan Committee Membership

Discussed opening up the current Master Plan Committee’s membership to possibly include members of the School Committee, Historical Committee or others.  It was decided that increasing the number of committee members would be too cumbersome.  But the committee felt that it was important that the School Committee know their involvement is welcome during the Master Plan process.  As a result, the committee agreed to have Sadwick begin a dialogue with the School Committee, and Sadwick will begin to copy them on the Master Plan meeting minutes, so that they will be able to participate as desired.

  1. Next Scheduled Meeting

The next meeting will be at the Tewksbury Public Library at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 9, 2002, prior to the second public forum.  Gill motioned for adjournment to occur at the conclusion of the public forum and Duffy seconded.
